Tanya Trenhaile
Tanya is a compassionate and skilled counsellor who brings a wealth of experience and a multicultural perspective to her practice. Growing up in Calgary, Alberta, she always felt a strong connection to the Maritimes through her family’s roots. After leaving the west, her journey took her to Costa Rica, where she spent a year and a half teaching English, learning Spanish, and immersing herself in Latin culture—an experience that broadened her understanding and enriched her counselling approach. She finally relocated to the East Coast in 2019 and has been happy to live in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia since.
Tanya worked as the Clinic Coordinator and Youth Counsellor at Atlantic Wellness in Moncton, before relocating to Halifax in 2022 to provide virtual therapy services. She has years of experience working with both youth and adults, helping clients navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, and burnout. Tanya uses a trauma-informed, integrative approach that draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness.
Outside of her counselling work, Tanya enjoys Latin dancing, spending time with her dog, yoga, and soaking up sunshine by the ocean. She works virtually with clients across most Canadian provinces, except Ontario and Quebec
Tanya holds a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and is both a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and a Licensed Counselling Therapist-Candidate (LCT-C) with CCTNB.
Tanya offers services online in both English and Spanish.
