Allyson Paradis
Allyson is a counselling intern at New Tide and is currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She works from a person-centred, collaborative approach grounded in humanistic and mindfulness-based perspectives, and believes in supporting clients with both compassionate presence and practical tools for change.
Allyson has a special interest in working with individuals navigating trauma, grief, parenting challenges, and generalized anxiety. At the heart of her work is a commitment to creating a space where clients feel heard, believed, and emotionally safe. Her path to counselling has been shaped by both training and lived experience. Growing up with generalized anxiety, depression, grief, and PTSD, and later becoming a parent of three, a caregiver to a medically complex child, and a cancer survivor, has deepened her empathy, resilience, and respect for each person’s healing journey.
Outside of counselling, Allyson enjoys music, sewing, and spending time in nature. She is grateful to be completing her practicum at New Tide and looks forward to supporting clients in a warm, supportive, and collaborative way.
